Last week, you could still get away with rocking bare legs, but now all I can say is brrrr! You'll freeze your tootsies off.

Every woman should own a black leather jacket. They make you look instantly cool and chic. But owning a light colored leather jacket was something I never gave a second thought to. My friend had this jacket that I'm wearing in these pictures. I thought it was kind of cheesy when she showed it to me, but after some convincing I thought "why not? There's no harm in just trying it on." I was sold! It fits well, it's real leather, and surprisingly, I reach for this jacket more than my black one. Moral of the story: Step outside of your comfort zone because sometimes your friends know best. Happy Monday ya'll!

TGIF! It's been a long week, and I can't wait to unwind with some tea and catch up on episodes of Californication. You know how most people dress down on Friday's? Well, I do the opposite. Friday's are the day I put in a little more effort and finally put on some makeup. It helps to lighten my mood and makes me look forward to the weekend.

Simple pieces like this Gap Kid's ombre dress I'm wearing can be dressed up or down. Since my black booties and awesome statement necklace add a little bit of edge to the outfit, I threw this cream colored cardigan on to soften up the whole look. Also, my necklace is actually a belt from Free People.

Remember to always accessorize and have a terrific weekend folks! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Ladies who lunch: Paisley Tunic

10.15.2014

There's something about this Zara dress that always makes me think of ladies who don floppy hats, and lunch on a patio overlooking a marina. This is an incredibly easy piece to transition from day to night. The silk material and paisley print already make this dress festive, so for night time I would just pile on some gold bracelets, and freshen up my lipstick.

The Magic Hour in a Free People Dress

6.30.2014

IMG_4594 IMG_4619 IMG_4736 IMG_4846 IMG_4697

This Free People dress was the perfect thing to wear after I was covered in mud and dirt hours before these photos were taken. This was my second year taking part in the Rugged Maniac race. Hector and my sister joined me this time. I'd say that my favorite obstacle this year was running up and over the half pipe. I just have so much fun doing the race, that I'm certain I'll do it again next year, and the year after that until I get bored or physically can't do it anymore.

I still had a lot of energy left after the race, so I threw on this effortless dress, and biked towards the sunset. The volume of the dress makes it great for twirling, but can also make me look pregnant which is the downside. The week just started but I'm already looking forward to this July 4th weekend! I'm hoping I can see some fireworks up close this year. What are your plans for July 4th?

Embroidered Boho Dress + Sunsets at the Beach

One of my favorite places to take pictures is the beach; not only because it sets a chill and laid back mood, but also because there is so much space to move around freely while photographing.

The bohemian look is one of my favorite styles. It's effortless and relaxed, yet stylish; three of the most important things when getting dressed. So I couldn't resist when I spotted this Tea + Cup Dress. I picked up this dress for the pattern and the flowy silhouette. And while this dress is absolutely lovely, there are a few issues with the fit. You may not be able to tell from these pictures, but the amount of fabric is a little overwhelming on my petite frame. The sleeves are extremely long, and there are straps to turn them into 3/4 sleeves which I used. However, the sleeves would have looked best if it was left as a 3/4 sleeve with elastic bands for the hem. The material is also quite sheer, so I have to wear a slip underneath.

Happy New Year folks! I'm a little late, but this was my Christmas outfit. It was too cold to wear a sleeveless dress, so I turned my dress into separates by layering a turtleneck on top. If you need a dress for an occasion, I highly recommend that you check out Taylor's dresses. They make great fit and flare dresses, and are sometimes sold at Marshall's.

Truth be told, I'm glad that 2013 is over; it was a rough year for me. Life threw a lot of curve balls testing me emotionally and mentally. This year I'd really like to work on growing as a creative individual, an adult, a woman, a blogger, a kick ass person, and the best version of myself possible. Cheers to a new year and a new attitude!

How to Layer

These pictures were taken last month when it was still warm enough to wear open toe shoes. I wore this moto style jacket to offset the girliness of this outfit. And to make my outfit pop, a statement piece was necessary. I opted for these unique earrings that my friend, Aarong made.

The number of ways to style a dress may seem limited, but it doesn't have to be. These layering tips will come in handy as its gets colder.

Wear a button down or loose sweatshirt to give the illusion that you are wearing separates. Here's another example.

Try pairing your dress with a jacket or a shirt underneath.

Now go mix and match your clothes! I'd love to see pictures of how you styled your dress!
